Art Rotterdam: Heartwarming Encounters at the DHB Art Space
What a special edition of Art Rotterdam it was! This was our first year as proud main sponsor. Three fantastic days filled with contemporary art – all taking place at Rotterdam Ahoy. On top of that, our very own DHB Art Space grew into an inspiring meeting place, centered around future dreams for Rotterdam South.
Dreams for Rotterdam South
In collaboration with Rotterdam-based artist collective Unity in Diversity (UID), we presented the interactive sound artwork Echoes of Us by media artist Pedro Gil Farias, co-developed with sound artist Marcin Sky. This piece quite literally gave a voice to the residents of the neighborhoods surrounding Rotterdam Ahoy: Zuidplein and Carnissepoort.
A Living Artwork
Visitors to the DHB Art Space were invited to listen to stories from the neighborhood through the sound artwork - and to record their own dreams. In doing so, Echoes of Us became a collective ‘dream catcher’: a living artwork full of optimism, visions for the future, and inspiration. It was wonderful to see how people from different backgrounds connected with each other. The responses were heartwarming and truly inspiring.
Sustainable Change
In the coming period, we will explore which ideas we can continue to support – driven by our ambition to use art as a catalyst for sustainable change. At DHB Bank, we believe that contemporary art helps move the world forward. Artists open our eyes to new possibilities, even when the path ahead is still unclear.
